Jeff Goodell's latest book, Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America's Energy Future (Houghton Mifflin), was chosen as one of the best nonfiction books of 2006 by Kirkus Reviews. The New York Times called it, “[A] compelling indictment of one of the country’s biggest, most powerful and most antiquated industries…well-written, timely, and powerful.”
Goodell is the author of three previous books, including Sunnyvale, a memoir about growing up in Silicon Valley that was selected as a New York Times Notable Book. Our Story, an account of the nine miners trapped in a Pennsylvania coal mine, was a New York Times bestseller. He is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone, and his work has appeared in many publications, including The New Republic, The Washington Post, The New York Times Magazine, and Wired.
